Billie Holiday

I love this singer, Billie Holiday...discovered her song when i was studying in Geelong, Vic.
The way she sings....full of charisma, even the songs are dramatic..ada soul laa orang kata..

" Billie Holiday (born Eleanora Fagan,[1] April 7, 1915 – July 17, 1959) was an American jazzsinger and songwriter. Nicknamed "Lady Day" by her friend and musical partner Lester Young, Holiday had a seminal influence on jazz and pop singing. Her vocal style, strongly inspired by jazz instrumentalists, pioneered a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo."

Some of you might not quite like it..

Strange Fruit lyrics
Songwriters: Allan, Lewis; Pearl, Maurice; Wiggins, Dwayne P.;

Southern trees bear strange fruit
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze
Strange fruit hanging from the popular trees

Pastoral scene of the gallant south
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth
[- From : -]
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh

Here is fruit for the crows to pluck
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop
Here is a strange and bitter cry
