Meja Makeup IKEA Yang Siot

I love IKEA, whats not to love about IKEA. They openly offered you plenty of ideas. And it’s all free of charge! I felt in love with this makeup table for quite sometime. I aimed to buy it. My darling hubby even took me to Fella Design to buy my makeup table. I gave all sorts of reasons to my husband, the makeup table was pricy, bulky for the room, the exact size doesn’t have drawers and many more.

So we move to IKEA and I got what I want. It was only RM1000++, to be exact it was RM1119.00, 3 chest drawers with 2 small drawers and a mirror. What a deal, and its white! Itu yang aku suka pun. For a white furniture, I consider it as the best deal I can get. Hubby was not so keen but he goes along and pay for it.

It was May 2010. Now in Nov 2010, my kiddos for unknown reason loves to open and close the top drawer. They’ll come and dig into the drawer and upon finding what they like, they’ll push back the drawer like pushing a car door. Biasa laa kids kan. Imagine that, you can hear aloud POMM!. My compartment laa tu. So somehow the bottom inner layer that support the drawer dropped. Nak cerita pun tak sure nak describe macam mana. But dalam erti kata lain, bottom base drawer asyik jatuh and my hubby dah fix for nearly 3 timesssssssssss within this month. 2 days ago, it happened again and my hubby doesn’t have the mood to fix it. I’m pissed and I’m not sure whom should I be shouting at right now
a) My husband who did not fix the drawer
b) My kiddos for slamming the drawer for several times a day
c) IKEA for selling me the “UN DURABLE“ chest drawer for a freaking RM1000++
d) Myself for not taking the FELLA makeup table worth triple when my husband is clearly paying for it!!! Duh

If it’s a two hundred chest drawers I would have chuck it outside my house but since it’s a thousand plus piece so I have to keep as well as to avoid seeing my husband sarcastic look of ‘I TOLD U SO”

And yang buat aku more geram, I kept on going back to IKEA. Jampi ke apa diaorang ni! Confirm BOMOH laa ni!

Huhuhuhu sedeynyaaaa baru 6 months je! In short, you can buy IKEA furniture if its not a day to day usage. If it is, baik beli kedai apek pelabot biasa lagi lasting lorrr. Mark my word! IKEA rep if you read this, come and fix or replace it and I’ll be sure to write a nice article about you in future!!! Deal????

kan classic chestdrawer ni, mana aku tak jatuh cinta, agreed?

You can see the straight line gap.

The bottom layer.  Going to fall off anytime

Bandung Trip - Day 3 (Part 3)

Usually orang tulis sampai part 2 jer, aku hentam je till part 3. Kalau mengantuk, there'll be another sequence, part 4! Hahahha macam real je, konon macam ramai membaca. Yang hampehnya, kawan2 seblogger je baca, kalau ada 4-5 kerat pun dah kira baguih!

Half past 5, we went out with Pak Harry, our Bandung friend. He brought us tour the whole town. We managed to pass Cimpelas area which I didn’t managed to venture. But I would not want to stay around this area. Its overly crowded. The shops are basically adjoined to each other with no air-conditioner. Macam style Hadyai/Padang Besar. We went to Bandung Trade Center @ BTC. The place is like Sg Wang way back in the 80’s. In other words don’t waste your time going there. Ain’t worth a dime. Dah la jauh!

We end up back in Dago area. We bought some delicacies at Kartika Sari. It’s one of the famous bakery in Bandung. Most bakery around Bandung are quite exclusive. The shop looked more like a Bonia boutique rather than a bakery! I tried Roti Bagelen, toasted sliced French loaf with butter and sugar. Then we took Tiramisu Bakar, a must buy cake! Brownies Cookies Bakar, yummy as well. Then I tried Pisang Moleh. But I prefer Pisang Moleh at Rumah Mode, the taste is much better and fresher too! Then we went further up to Amanda. We bought Brownies Kukus Original and Brownies Kukus Marble. I preferred the Marble. Most of them cost around RP25,000 to RP30,000. The downside is that the expiry date is within 3-4days for 'kek kukus'. So its better to buy on the last day or you can opt for the brownies bakar. And buy in the shop itself bukan dekat warung tepi jalan!

We did managed to explore Grande. The ladies clothing are quite up to date. Prices are reasonable as well. Next, I went to Lavie Baby Shop at Jalan Imam Bonjol. Its full of baby clothing but I didn’t like the atmosphere. Cheap, no doubt but the place is so cramp and you have to scout around for what you want. Tak berapa syok nak shopping. I was in and out within 5 minutes. I think Rumah Mode has put a spell on me. Once you had your first shopping at a grand outlet, it makes you in a deplorable state when you shop at a less classy FO. Memilih sungguh aku ni!

We’re off to Paris Van Java. It’s a huge mall. They have Sogo, Carrefour beside other stores which you can find in KL. Bodyshop, Zara, Giordana, Charles and Keith macam kat KL la. Lots of eatery to try out. A nice place to hang around. The accessories shop are quite up to date and cheaper than KL. I grabbed 2 necklaces for my sister. Its for her birthday present. The cheapest ever I spend for her!

Most eatery in Paris van Java are western food. Nak lepak2 syok laa kat sini. Macam lebih kurang The Curve, Street Market. We make a move to D'Cost Seafood. Tagline of the shop "Kualiti 5 Bintang, Harga Kaki Lima". Pergh, power ayat. Sure whoever read the tagline would want to try it.  The weird part is Ikan Gurame Stim Garlic does not have a smell! Selalu kalau makan The Chicken Rice Shop, tak sampai secubit dah berbau mulut, this one dasyat no smell.  Hairan Hairan. For 4 person kitaorang order, Baby Kailan Sos Tiram, Ikan Bawal Hitam Bakar Pedas, Ikan Gurame Stim Bawang Putih, Tempe Goreng, Udang Pancet Saus Telur Asin and drinks cost us around RP139,920 about RM49 la.

We ended our day by going to the Braga Area. Peninggalan Sejarah Belanda can be seen around this area.  They say this is a place if you wanna find paintings.  Too bad we didnt get the change.  Perhaps next round.

Bandung Trip - Day 3 (Part 2)

Back to my seat. We went out for jalan-jalan at Jln Setiabudhi. Beside Rumah Mode, there’re few FOS around like the Fashion World, Mode Plus and Zenith which I didn’t manage to go. Mode Plus was a little bit pricy then the others. Fashion World was quite interesting. They have a small cozy area for you to laze around while waiting for your partner to shop.

I stopped for a snack at DenHaag Klappertaat kiosk.  I took "Koek Kecil" or you can merely as for 'kelapa tart'. The pastry is really delicious. Would recommend this to anyone of you out there. I tried Klappertart, inside this pastry, slightly taste like soft bread pudding plus the egg tart. With both combination, there’s a fresh coconut strip inside the pastry. Urghh…sedap, the taste still lingers in my memory and mouth! Price: RP7000.
So if you’re somewhere in Bandung, scout for these vans. Pasti Enak Dong!

We had tiffin at Rumah Makan Sederhana Padang. Well let me tell you when first time they serve you its not ‘sederhana’ at all! It’s a whopping meal if you eat all of course. They’ll come and serve you about 10-14 dishes at one go. You’ll be charge for what you eat. Simply ask them if you’re not sure what you are ingesting. There’s this one dish which we couldn’t work out whether it’s a beef/chicken/fish and to our surprise it was the cow’s brain!! Ewww….thank god! If not we might have swigged down the brain. I can’t imagine the texture but believe me, it doesn’t look as horror as my story goes. In actual, it looked kindda tasty.

I have to give Indonesian credit, they can make dishes from every part. Gulai urat was simply tasty. Soft and tender indeed. Daging Rendang is a MUST. Plus I love their tempe, its always fresh and garing. Its fried with egg-plant @ brinjals and added with ‘petai’. The petai still intact to the kulit. One thing that puzzles me, their ‘petai’ which most of the time mix with tempe does not leave smell at all! Hairan bin ajaib. I don’t take petai or anything that goes with petai. But somehow for this case, I can take the ‘tempe’ and eggplant although it has been mixed with petai merely because the taste and smell basically does not exist in that bowl! But I wasn’t daring enough to try their ‘telur dadar’ @ omelette because the outer view looked more like a bread rather than an egg. Hehehehe. We were charged RP114,400 for 7 dishes. Puas hati, kalau makan kat Sari Ratu KL sure kena double!  Overall I would give 4/5 for the food.

top is the omellette, next on the right is the brain :-); bottom right is the gulai urat
Wait for my part 3 ya :-)

Bandung Trip - Day 3 (Part 1)

It was raining that day.  Initial plan was plan for Pasar Baru, Jalan Cimpelas, Jalan Braga and dinner at Paris Van Java.  We would be shopping for our families today.  But both of us was pretty lazy.  We went down for a late breakfast.  Somehow it was quite a slow pace for us knowing we have to cover few places that day.

Then the 'unexpected' came.  Hubby got a call regarding his sister.  An accident had occured.  She's in pretty bad shape.  Next few minutes, more tragic news came in.  She was in a coma.  We were shaken up.  I remembered well. My whole body quivered, my knees trembled and sweats started line up.  A gloomy and sombre day indeed.  I'll post about her later.  Whole plan cancelled but we went out because staying in the hotel and waiting for news isn't helping.  Was not easy to get plane back home either.  Hence i finished up my time by taking Sany Rosa pix.

 Wait for my Part2

Bandung Trip Day 2 (Part 2)

After Riau, we head straight to Jalan Dago.  We took angkotan to Jalan Dago. About RP4000 for the 2 of us.  Angkotan is the cheapest mean of transport.  If you can stand the heat and the smell, hop in.  Some say they got pick-pocket or stares from the people when they took angkotan but surprisingly for us, the trip was smooth and fast!  Plus the people on board were friendly and honest.  Nasib laa kot.  Take note that angkotan only carry one way.  If Jalan Dago only Jalan Dago so having a map helps!  Print je from Internet.

Angkotan - the green color van accomodates about 8-10 people.  From RP1000-RP4000 depending on the distance

There are more FOS over this area then in Jalan Riau. I think basically the prices also much more cheaper in Dago as compared to Riau. We went to Uptown, Jetset, Oasis, Blossom. One thing I realized in Bandung, most of the clothing are small in sizes. Seriously for the 4 days trip, I have not encountered any extravanga big size people, generally most of them are slim and fit. Bandung teens are stylish. They wore cardigans, jackets so much different from Malaysian who dressed more simpler with tees and jeans. Kita kan sempoi :-)

Jalan Dago itself have dozens of FO.  I didnt manage to complete my FO journey over this area.  Coconel Shoes No.118, Sollutions No.91, Edward Forrer, Donatello, Raffles City, Victoria, Blossom, Jetset, Grande, Episode, Level Factory Outlet, Uptown, Rich & Famous,Happening, Glamour are among the FOS that you can scout around.  Gossip is one of the latest one.   I went pass few hotels namely Karmilla, Utari and Royal Dago.  I think for my next trip, i'll choose Utari.  Looks OK from the outside.  Lagipun its near to Kartika Sari and there's many restaurant  nearby.

Weather kat Bandung pun not bad. Just nice for you to walkabout. So in the end you don’t get tired easily. Perhaps around 24C degrees. Off late however, there’s lot of rainy days so be prepared. When raining, there’s always kids around who rented out umbrella for you at a mere RP1000. Slightly far they charge you RP2000 indirectly making 'continuous shopping' more easier.

Lotsa people selling souvenirs; keychains, fridge magnets, tees.  I bought 6 keychains for RP25000, they also have 10 for RP20000.

Finally we end up in Donatello which I bought 6 shoes for about RP692,000 comes about RM41 each! Too bad the sizes were not available otherwise I would add another 4 more to the collection. The flats are comfy and cheap! Plus some are made of leathers.  Kat KL kalau nak beli flats, if cheap and nice design, pigskin pulak.  But the stilettos, ankle straps, dress shoes a NO NO, they looked ‘cikai’ sket macam style area2 Jalan TAR if you know what I mean. Baik you spend your cash for Vincci shoes.  Nanti i post the shoes.

Unable to hold more stuff, we decide to end our shopping journey. Dinner was at Ayam Goreng Suharti, Jl. Cipaganti no. 158. A famous restaurant in Bandung. Yang tak tahan tu ayam dia siap digoreng dengan kepala! So I covered the chicken head with the crumbs of the chicken itself . I cant stand eating something with the head still intact to the body except fishes itu pun tengok jenis ikan. In Bandung, the chicken is as slim as the people! You are what you eat! Semua ayam kampong, basically they’re eating healthy food. They’re always salad around with your dishes. Fresh tomatoes, cucumber and long beans are a must.  Dinner was about RP92,500.

Ayam Suharti is just a brisk walk away from Sany Rosa Hotel.  Before landing at Sany Rosa, we had ice cream at MacD.  Too bad they didnt have Oreo MacFlurry. I think the price is slightly cheaper than Malaysia.

collection of my day2 shopping spree!

Bandung Trip - Day 2 (Part 1)

My second day cuti-cuti Bandung.

Like I said breakfast was the same at Sany Rosa, but if you got bored there’s always MacD around the corner or perhaps at the Rumah Mode café. In Bandung, they eat peanut butter toast with choc rice. Not bad.

common breakfast at Sany Rosa Hotel

We’re off to Jalan Riau. The first stop was Summit. Its quite big but I didn’t like the place much. I felt the clothes were berabuk so it doesn’t look that new to me! But they do sell nice clothing so if you don’t mind, you can just grab ‘em. Opposite Summit, you can find ForMen and Terminal Tas. ForMen, as the name implies is mainly for men. A bit pricy as compared to other FOS perhaps because its’ main highlights are high-end brand such as Bally, Burberry, Versace and Gucci. You can find lots of office wear. Terminal Tas? A BIG NO NO!  Dont even think about going in, you'll be wasting your 5mins.  Totally fake item and its a 'genuine' fake item.  So obvious!!  Next walkabout was Renaritti, the place is huge. If you don’t mind the brand, you ought to check out this place for kids. They have a wide area for kids garment. Adorable items! They even have Bandung clothes for souveniors which cost around RP59,000.  I felt the lighting was dim thou'..it doesnt extract me much.

grabbed this whilst around Summit, Sedap!

Handbags out, Luggage murah lagi kat KL, place is nice but goods OUT

We headed to Secret. Yezzerrr! This is one of my faves! In Bandung most FOS are selling the same clothing and design, well almost the same anyway. But Rumah Mode and Secret sell slightly different type of design. Caters for modern design, Secret is the place to look for. If you always shop at Forever 21 or Topshop, dump the rest and head to this place. Plus the clothing are imported, got this info from a Bandung friend of mine.  Lotsa dresses, spaghetti straps, skirts! Plus if you buy in bulk, you even get discount card. The place is cozy and offers a beautiful garden for you to rest while you shop. Shop, stop for makan, shop, stop for toilet, shop, stop for makan and merry go round and round kekekeke.

you need to crossover the garden to get to the kids section

We had Batagor and Cendol at the garden. Delicious! Cendol dia siap ada nangka. Em..how should I describe Batagor… a mixture of kulit popiah, tauhu and cucur udang plus ditabur dengan kuah kacang. Yummy!. Cost us around RP25,000. Perhaps its cheaper at kaki lima but tak berani cuba.  Paling best makanan i had so far sampai dok teringat2.
Batagor with Cendol

Batagor before its cut

I finished 3millions at Secret. Hehehehe, rasa macam orang kaya! I think when it comes to shopping i just dont seem to have enough!  Its part of my stress-release therapy session. Shopping able to put a big wide smile on me!  Its makes me sleep sound at nite hehhee...

We had lunch at Riau Junction. Malas nak cari so in the end we all go to the food court. Wanted to try Bandung dishes but could make out what is it so we opt for western. Not bad. I had spaghetti Bolognese and hubby tried MaryLand Chicken. Not bad, the ‘TEH BOTOL’ taste exactly like the normal tea except its cold and comes in a Coke Bottle. The TEH BOTOL cost me about RP1500 which is RM0.53 mana nak dapat weiii..ayaq suma pun 30sen!! Yang best, i can't take tea.  If i take 2 glasses, i'll end up with an upset stomach but in Bandung, i took tea almost 5-6 glasses per day and my stomach stays fine.  Naik flight ke KL terus upset stomach, weird!  In Bandung, its all about tea.  Teh Tawar, Teh Manis, Teh Botol, Teh Limau bla bla..

The Riau Junction food court

The place we had our lunch,  Cubebox Box

the satisfied 'teh botol' customer

Another place we went was Sahara. Also a nice place to shop. Its one of the newest FO in town. Lots of loose blouses.
